The need to extend the event to the EU capital – Brussels is just reasonable step forward to involve relevant institutions and upgrade the dialogue.
That will facilitate new perspective for employers and employees.
To increase wellbeing in companies the leadership should be absolutely on board. You need to balance in any organization the stress of the activities with wellbeing. The 3rd Congress invites and motivates for change, that should be a bit more creative and faster these days.
Make Change.
Congress is a platform to develop discussion how to improve the culture of health and wellbeing in companies through best practices, education, re-education, preventive health and wellness programs including digital tools, with a goal to increase efficiency and productivity, work-life balance, and most of all „Joy of Life and Work“ as said by congress initiator Primarius Vlasta Brozičević, MD., specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation, rheumatology.
In collaboration with visit.brussels, the Brussels soft mobility service bring benefits to participants. Continue to experience Brussels and “Discover all the cultural and tourist attractions in the area of www.visit.brussels.”

TERME – SELCE, Organizer
Welcome message
H. E. JOSIP PARO, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Kingdom of Belgum
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, distinguished participants of the 3rd Terme Selce International Congress, on the Integrative Approach to Well-Being and Well-Being Strategy.
It is always a pleasure to be the last speaker of the welcome speeches. Because – the more distinguished people before me have already told all the generalities that really matter. That clearly adds to my own well-being.
This doesn’t mean I am not honoured to address such an important gathering. And this doesn’t mean that, as an employee of the biggest corporate organization in the country—the Government—I haven’t considered the well-being of the employees. I have. Both as a senior official and as a humble employee, and in my dilettante way, though, I do recognize the urgency of the matter.
We live at a historical flexion point. The paradigms of the old existing order of things are crumpling, new paradigms are in the creation, and no one knows the final result. This is equally true on the macro and the micro levels. The great change affects societies, cultures, corporations, and individuals.
In this overarching framework, the theme of corporate well-being, and especially employees’ mental health, is a pressing issue in that fast-paced and demanding work environments. The need for well-being, especially the mental well-being, has never been more critical, and – as we navigate the challenges of the change – it is essential – allow me just once more the courage to think – it is essential that we prioritize the holistic health and wellness of individuals in both their personal and professional lives.
In conclusion, I commend Terme Selce for its dedication to addressing these important issues and for its commitment to advancing healthcare and well-being in the region. As you come together to explore new horizons of corporate well-being and medical tourism, let us embrace the opportunity to learn from one another and work towards a healthier and happier future for all.
Thank you for your dedication to these vital causes, and I wish you a successful and productive congress.
Local community support
IVONA MATOŠIĆ GAŠPAROVIĆ, CITY OF CRIKVENICA – Acting Mayor
Every local community should emphasize the importance of extended care for the health and well-being of employees, so that our cities can become pioneers of a new lifestyle and work style, and thus serve as a model of good practice within the European community.
Investing in employee well-being is not only morally right, but also brings measurable benefits to businesses, such as reducing workforce turnover and higher employee engagement. The city of Crikvenica has been successfully implementing the ‘Healthy City’ project for years. Through the diverse activities of the project partners, including Terme Selce, we encourage the entire local community to take greater care of mental and physical health, as well as nutrition. We also motivate young people to stay and contribute to the further development of all forms of health tourism. I would particularly like to highlight the full membership of the City of Crikvenica in the Croatian Network of Healthy Cities. Many companies have recognized the benefits of our beautiful Crikvenica Riviera and its more than 130 years of tradition in the field of health and well-being, choosing our health riviera and Terme Selce for well-being programs intended for their employees. I am therefore very pleased that the City of Crikvenica has all the necessary prerequisites to be recognized as a healthy and smart city, ideal for healthy companies. My special thanks go to the entire Terme Selce team and the Brozičević family, whose immense commitment and excellence have contributed significantly to the development of Crikvenica as a renowned health destination. Their long-standing cooperation, tireless work, and dedication have enabled our Riviera to shine on the world stage and promote the beauty and quality of life we offer here.
ZLATKO KOMADINA, Prefect Primorje-Gorski Kotar County
Dear organizers and participants of the 3rd International Congress of Terme Selce, It is my great pleasure to greet you on behalf of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, with its long tradition of health tourism, on the occasion of the 3rd International Congress of Terme Selce in Brussels. The theme you have chosen for this year’s edition of the Congress – “Corporate well-being: Quality of Life and Joy of Work” – is more than welcome if we take into account recent scientific research that links the promotion of healthy habits in the workplace with an increased quality of mental and physical health of employees, but also their productivity. In today’s fast-paced and often demanding business environment, employee health and well-being have become key factors that not only affect efficiency, but also the general atmosphere and morale within corporations. In this context, your congress represents a key platform for the exchange of knowledge, experiences and examples of best practices among experts, leaders and decision makers from Europe and the world. I believe that health is the basis of all success, and through dialogue and cooperation, at events like this, we have the opportunity to contribute to the creation of a stronger and more aware global workforce that is capable of facing the challenges of the modern age. The theme of this year’s congress is extremely relevant, because corporate well-being is not just a trend, but a key and necessary approach that shapes the future of workplaces for the better. I wish numerous inspiring presentations and discussions within the Congress to contribute to the development of corporate organizations and to the improvement of the quality of life of employees by promoting their health and well-being in the working environment, thus once again confirming the exceptional quality of the organization and implementation of the program of your now traditional congress this time in Brussels.
With respect Prefect Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Zlatko Komadina

MSc. KRISTJAN STANIČIĆ, Croatian National Tourist Board:
As a destination with an excellent health and well-being offer, we believe that along with supporting corporate well-being, it is important to provide a well-deserved break and ensure a balance between work, play and recovery.
A combination of supporting a healthy work atmosphere and the opportunity to rest and relax are of utmost importance.
Health Tourism may also be used as a corporate incentive to regain the necessary well-being for employees before returning to the workplace.
We are also happy that Selce, Croatia was host to the first 2 congresses and look forward to Brussels.
MSc. BARBARA BEROŠ, European Parliament:
Initiating and continuing initiatives on this topic in an organizational context is not always easy, but it is important, necessary, and achievable – step by step.
DRAŽEN OPALIĆ, Republic of Croatia, Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy:
The mental health of workers is closely related on the one hand to many physical benefits such as lower incidence of cardiovascular diseases, stroke and sleep problems, and on the other hand to greater productivity and creativity at work and in private life.
Therefore, it is necessary to continuously improve the quality of life in mental, emotional, physical and professional aspects.
In this context, I support the organization of this 3rd Congress on the topic of well-being.
IVAN ŠTEFANIĆ, PhD, European Innovation Council/ EISMEA:
European Innovation Council has powerful programs to support visionary scientists and entrepreneurs along the whole innovation development path. Pathfinder for low TRL, Transition for preparing the commercialization, and Accelerator to execute it properly.
Quality of life and well-being is very high on our priority list. We have Programme Managers covering very relevant sectors: Health, Med-tech and Food and Agri-tech. But we are fully aware that holistic and lifecycle approach is needed to achieve the full potential that lies ahead of us.
3rd International Congress Corporate Wellbeing Life Quality & Joy of Work is an excellent opportunity to learn from people with very different careers.
Looking forward to meet you in Brussels and explore possible cooperation.
Assist. Prof. DIJANA MAYER, MD, PhD, Croatian Institute of Public Health:
In today’s fast-paced and demanding corporate world, the pursuit of profit often takes precedence over the well-being of employees. However, there is a growing recognition that fostering a culture of corporate well-being can have a profound impact on both individual happiness and organizational success. At the heart of this movement lies the concept of the “joy of work.” Mental health is another critical component of corporate well-being. High-stress levels, anxiety, and depression can be detrimental to both employees and the organization. Forward-thinking companies are implementing mental health programs, offering access to counseling services, and promoting open dialogues about mental health challenges. When employees feel supported in their mental well-being, they are more likely to bring their best selves to work. The joy of work is a multifaceted concept that encompasses physical, mental, and emotional well-being in the corporate setting. It is a mindset that values employees as individuals and recognizes their holistic needs. Companies that prioritize corporate well-being are not only more likely to attract and retain top talent but also to foster a culture of innovation and resilience. Ultimately, the joy of work is not just a lofty ideal; it is a pragmatic approach to building healthier, happier, and more successful organization.
ŽELJKO OREŠKI, Mag. Ing. Traff., CROATIAN AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS’ ASSOCIATION:
Human capital is made up of the people who contribute to the Group’s activities every day through their know-how, expertise, loyalty and commitment to creating a collaborative atmosphere that optimizes organizational processes. To be contributors, people need to maintain their mental health.
Mental health is a human right – and therefore, it must be available to everyone, everywhere.
Mental health is an integral part of a person’s general health and is much more than the absence of mental disorders and difficulties. A person with good mental health is satisfied, optimistic, able to start a family and be happy in it, accepts other people, can create and maintain friendships, is productive in the workplace and copes well with life’s problems. These are all reasons why improving mental health is crucial, not only for individuals but also for the family and community in which they live.
KRISZTINA SZABÓ M.D., PHARMAFLIGHT:
Learn how to manage your own health and wellbeing.
We will help you on this path.
Dr. MD. SABUR KHAN, Daffodil International University:
The wellbeing is not only a slogan or a conference. It should be spread into the mindset so the companies can sustain in the long run helping their employees.
We believe that a lot of the European high officials will join and they will also spread all information to the whole world, and definitely European countries should be priority target.
NATAŠA ODAK, dm-drogerie markt d.o.o.:
Raising general awareness about the significance of employee health can only be achieved by providing top-notch education and making systematic investments in our employees’ well-being. At dm, we recognize that nurturing our employees means investing also in our most invaluable asset: our people.
MARIO ŠTULAC, dm-drogerie markt d.o.o.:
Prioritizing physical and mental well-being, including proper nutrition, often gets overlooked when we’re in good health. Our objective is to promote employees’ well-being and create awareness about the significance of physical and mental health. We do this through activities such as regular exercise, mental health education, massages, physical therapy, and promoting a healthy diet.
YULIA STARK, European Women’s Association:
Corporations have a larger responsibility and impact on our societies.
Corporate wellbeing goes beyond the 15 min meditation. It’s about awareness of overall human wellbeing and how it impacts our work.
By focusing on that, we are able to go beyond the physical health, tapping into sense of belonging, creativity and innovation.
Where financial results are a logical outcome in a sustainable and connecting way.
Happy to contribute to this Congress with our EWA ecosystem and personal experience and passion for the topic.
TATJANA PUŠKARIĆ, Prof., Public Institution Regional Coordinator of Sisak-Moslavina County:
Development takes place at the regional and local level, with numerous projects implemented by various stakeholders. Caring for the health and well-being of every member of society should become the standard of the development project. Through various forms of dialogue, it is necessary to improve communication in planning local and regional development and contribute to a happier, healthier and more inclusive society.
Regional coordinator of Sisak – Moslavina County is looking forward to the 3rd Congress organized by Terme Selce as an important opportunity to exchange views, practices and contribute to our common goals.
MARCELLO MEREU, BA, BSc, MA, MA, Cello Communications:
Thank you for inviting me; it is a real honor to participate in this congress which covers such a vast array of topics and facets in the area of wellbeing.
I believe wellbeing in all its aspects is the greatest concern in the workplace at the moment and I am happy to see it is not a peripheral or corollary topic, but it has become the protagonist, as it should be.
I will be delighted to talk about my experience and observations in this area working for the past twenty years as a psychologist, trainer and facilitator.
CSILLA MEZŐSI, Europaen SPAS Association:
#EuropeanSpas objective is also to improve the mental, physical, emotional health of our citizens and we are happy that the congress focus on employees, to be successful.
SEBASTIJAN ORLIĆ, PhD, Kvaliteta života:
In today’s fast-paced and demanding corporate world, it’s crucial to address the wellbeing of employees.
The “Joy of Work” initiative presents a unique opportunity for Congress to engage in meaningful discussions about how to improve workplace conditions, support mental and physical health, and ultimately enhance the overall job satisfaction of workers across various industries.
Fostering a positive and healthy work environment is not only beneficial for employees, but it also contributes to a stronger economy and a more vibrant society as a whole.
ANITA JURIĆ, PhD, Assistant Professor, MOSTAR FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE AND FOOD TECHNOLOGY:
Never has been paid more attention to the impact of nutrition on human health and quality of life. It is for this reason that the last chapter of the book Beer as a food product, entitled The nutritional value of beer and its impact on health, is dedicated to the impact of beer on human health.
Given that there is no similar work that could be used in higher education and as a popular scientific work, this topic is relevant and will be of special interest to the scientific community, as well as the wider public. It is suitable for food technologists, but also medical experts, considering that part of it also refers to the influence of beer on health.
VLADO JURIĆ, BHANSA:
Professions in aviation industry carry huge responsibility for millions lives every day around the world.
One among 10 most stressful professions is air traffic controller.
Every day all of them are faced with numerous events at their work places that affect their health and wellbeing.
Therefore we put highest priority to our human factors with various programs including prevention and permanent education.
Our collaboration with Terme Selce started at Sarajevo Team Resource Training for controllers organized by Eurocontrol and BHANSA in 2019, continued in Selce at great workshop in 2022, and continues to Brussels Congress.
Terme Selce Congress is important best practices sharing platform and place for dialogue between employers, employees and local communities officials.
I believe that the 3rd Congress 2024 in Brussels will attract not only HR experts, but also policy makers from our industry and others to create even better strategies of wellbeing for employees.
Wellbeing of air traffic controllers or any other professions brings big benefits to clients and companies.
I invite you to join us.
Let’s talk about this extremely important topic!
ALIDA PERKOV, PhD, BPW Pula:
All jobs have some aspects that are difficult, but we should hope and expect that the workplace is an environment of joy.
Creating an environment that fosters joy requires open-minded conversations with our team about important values and how to implement them into the workplace. Therefore, we should focus on a culture centered on building relationships and community. Also, we should ensure employees understand the goals of the company and their role in achieving those goals. But most important is to encourage social impact both internally and externally through community action.
Dr. PATRIK KOVACS, OECD:
Health and well-being is an essence for success and business. We tend to forget sometimes the basics. Such a congress is a great idea to organize, to promote best practices and good examples in raising awareness. Good health means more productive business, more productive business leads to more satisfied customers and happier people.

Scientific research continues to underscore the profound impact of positive neuroplasticity on our mental health and happiness. Our brains are remarkably adaptable, shaped by the focus of our attention. By intentionally directing our attention towards positive experiences, we can actively rewire our brains to foster greater joy and fulfillment in both our professional and personal lives.
